I learned about Josh Kaufman a few years back and loved his message so much that I bought his book Personal MBA and enrolled in the Personal MBA online program. He has since been upgrading the site to include a social community. I hoping to schedule some time to walk through the course again this summer.

Why did I choose to make a $2,000 investment in my self education versus going to a traditional university?

  • Didn’t want to tackle more student debt.
  • I want full control of my schedule and course material.
  • I can always reference the online lectures.
  • I’m a huge fan of the self education movement.

You don’t need an MBA from a university to prove your value in the market place. What Makes the Personal MBA valuable to me is that I learn what I want to learn and adapt that specifically to my work environment. What is also cool about his online course as well as Josh’s book is that it can always be used as a reference, a starting point to go further in depth on any particular subject- marketings, value creation, sales, and finance. If you’re looking at becoming a financial analyst or investment banker, heck maybe even a CEO, then yeah, an accredited MBA might be the path you want to take. For people like me that want to learn the ins and outs of running a business the Personal MBA is a perfect fit.
